This project is located in Bovigny, Belgium (postal code 6671) and involves replanting a diversified forest following an early spruce harvest due to bark beetle infestation. The area, part of the Parc Naturel des Deux Ourthes, includes natural regeneration of birch and rowan, which will be encouraged, especially in the western section, with additional birch planting. The forest's oak borders contribute deciduous species to a predominantly coniferous region.
The project will plant 4,560 trees, including birch (13.2%), red oak (6.6%), sessile oak (3.3%), Douglas fir (16.4%), beech (14.5%), hybrid larch (23%), and Scots pine (23%). The planting will cover five blocks with varying compositions, such as a block enriched with birch, a mix of pine, larch, and Douglas fir, a strip of beech, and another with red oak, pine, and larch.
The total area is 3.2 hectares, with an altitude of 518 meters and a loamy soil type. Planting will take place between 2024 and 2025, and the seedlings will be sourced from Pepinieres Pirohton SA.
